"Merry Christmas" snowglobes

Updated: Dec 21, 2024

Santa snow globe Christmas card

Though this website is about snowglobes from actual places visited, globes are very much associated with Yuletide. Snowglobes containing Santa, elves, snowmen, ginger bread men, and even religious scenes, are encapsulated in the glass domes with winter snow scenes. along with wreaths, christmas trees, baubles, lights and crackers and other festive ornaments. These Christmas globes are brought out in December year after year to add to room decorations.

Our Christmas themed snowglobes collected over the years

This is our ensemble of Christmas themed globes which we have collected over the years.

This battery operated globe comes with Christmas songs and originally lighted up.

Globes can be used in the theme of Christmas cards as Santa is here.

Globes can even appear in books with the cardboard pages surrounding the globe within.

Snowman's nose is about a snowman whose carrot nose drops off and is eaten by birds. The animals try various noses including a can and potatoe but in the end Rollo the rabbit uses a snow ball which snowman finds most satisfactory.

Joyeux Noel has a christmas tree globe which fits into the drawings, as the village puts together a carnival with the tree in the middle. This book/globe was obtained in Nice.

This self assembled globe was put together by Sol in primary school from a paper plate, plastic cover, stylophone polystyrene for snow and a few christmas themed cut outs for inside

Snowmen and Santas containing round globe stomachs seem popular and a good contrast with the traditional semi-circular shapes.

Some actually wish you a Merry Christmas on the side including these cute ones of Rudolph, a teddy, and a gingerbread man on a iced chocolate cake base, complete with presents

Some globes contain scenes of elves, ice skaters and people baking bread in an oven!

Others are religious scenes like 2 angels pulling a sleigh, Mary and Joseph either on their way to the stable or at it.

Some of the more avante-garde have Santa over a roaring fireplace and even driving what looks like a basic Volkswagen car.

Santa himself appears inside many snow globes usually carrying a sack.

Then there are more unique scenes with snowmen next to a white building, maybe a water mill, snowmen in a log cabin, and waving

These are our 6 favourites, taking into account scene and design including the base. Got to have an older design religious one, though Santas, snowmen and gingerbread men add to the Christmas experience. The bases also add to the overall show: cake, roaring fire, even a car, log cabin and the traditional types, one with Merry Christmas on.

But this one does this, so is our favourite

The 2007 film Snowglobe, has Agatha entering a snowglobe where the inhabitants are enjoying Christmas, she gets trapped for a while and soon tires of being stuck there. Two of the inhabitants get out of the globe and interact oddly with the locals. Eventually everyone gets back to where they should be

Basically snowglobes are popular Christmas items because of the snow and Christmas scenes combining well with feelings of nostalgia this time of year. We certainly add these globes here to our Christmas festive display each December.

And a Merry Christmas to you all from Kelvin, Margaret and Sol!

Santa injures himself and needs his freinds to help save Christmas in this book, which shows how much globes are integrated with Christmas
